Kim Desroches – Kildare Lodge

Kildare Lodge is an experiential tourist location on the shores of Cascumpec Bay. General Manager Kim Desroches spent twenty years working for the federal government before taking on the management role at the newly expanded lodge in April 2022.

Kildare Lodge offers hostel-style accommodation suitable for individual travelers and small groups, along with bike, paddleboard, and kayak rentals. The Lodge is ideal for hosting events in the off season as well. Kim runs the facility like it is her own business. While she had a learning curve in her new role, she acquired many of the skills she uses to run the Lodge through the training workshops offered at the Alberton Rural Action Centre. She took advantage of courses such as how to write a business plan, how to use Excel to track revenue and expenditures, and how to use social media to promote your business.

Kim is generous in sharing many positive comments about the staff and services provided by the Alberton Rural Action Centre and partner organizations.

“The Rural Action Centre is important because it provides a wonderful location (easy to access) and close to everything. When you go there you are greeted by Barb who is always happy and can point you in the right direction for the help you might need with any business idea you may have.

From posting on social media to tracking expenses using Excel, the skills I’ve learned through workshops offered by the Rural Action Centre have benefitted me immensely in my work. Every course that I’ve taken has been well done and very informative.

I love being on the Rural Action Centre mailing list. I always wonder what great courses and info they will be providing. Sometimes it’s something I really need to take and sometimes it refreshes a previous something I learned but I always can use refreshers.

There are so many people in that building that provide help to so many different individuals for so many different things. I’m just one small part of the people who need this service but there are so many more beneficial things in the Rural Action Centre that help so many unique situations. I feel there’s a wonderful blend of community information in the actual building.”
