The Bottle Houses and Gardens are a renowned tourist attraction in Cap-Egmont, in the heart of PEI’s Evangeline region.
Édouard Arsenault, the founder and creator of The Bottle Houses, was intrigued and inspired by a similar attraction on Vancouver Island that was pictured on a post card he received from his daughter. In 1980, Édouard set out to create his own bottle house.
Fast forward over 40 years and 25,000 recycled bottles later, The Bottle Houses have blossomed into an oasis of calm and serenity encompassing three buildings, surrounded by botanical gardens, and ocean breezes from the Gulf of Saint Lawrence just a stone’s throw away.
Aubrey and Angie Cormier assumed ownership of The Bottle Houses and Gardens in 2018.
Aubrey has been active in the Canadian Francophonie for over 35 years. He has held numerous management positions in both the private and public sectors, including community newspaper editor, cultural tourism tour operator, assistant deputy minister of Acadian and Francophone affairs, and founding director of PEI’s first Francophone community college. He and Angie have lived in Cap-Egmont, PEI since 1990.
Aubrey has used the services of the Rural Action Centre (RAC) in Wellington to access information about government programs to support business and community development. The staff and management of The Bottle Houses and Gardens have also benefited from various training sessions offered at the RAC.
