National Day for Truth & Reconciliation: September 30

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools. September 30th also marks Orange Shirt Day.

The orange shirt is a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children over generations.

Treaty Day: October 1st

Treaty Day on October 1st serves as the official recognition of the historic Peace and Friendship Treaties signed between the Mi’kmaq and the British Crown in the 1700s.
