Happy Canada Day!
Rural Action Centres’ staff and partners wish everyone a happy and safe Canada Day long weekend. Best wishes to communities and others who are planning special celebrations to mark our country’s birthday.
Online booking for Rural Transit
Transit PEI offers riders an easy and convenient way to plan and book their trip between communities across the province. The new option allows riders to create an account and see their transaction history, book multiple trips in one transaction, have a faster payment option, and choose a departure time and route that best meets their needs. Riders can also continue to book by calling 902-812-0808.
Cleaning Our Shorelines
Cleaning Our Shoreline student crews will join the PEI Aquaculture Alliance (PEIAA) and local watershed groups from June 20 to August 27 to remove and dispose of debris from coastal shorelines. Island residents who would like to submit a coastal area for clean-up efforts can do so by text 902-200-2106 through the PEI Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, or through the PEIAA’s online form or by phone 902-368-2757.
Discover Acadian & Indigenous Archeological Artifacts
A new exhibit “Unearthing the past: Archaeological Discoveries on Prince Edward Island” runs until September at the Acadian Museum. Unearthed artifacts hold 2000 years of Mi’kmaq cultural history and 300 years of Acadian cultural history. Visitors get to play the role of archaeologist in the photo booth! Children visiting the museum will receive a copy of the activity book Archaeology in Action.
