September 10, 2021

Leadership Opportunity for Youth in Rural PEI

The Youth-on-Board Pilot Project will offer an opportunity for up to 20 students to serve on active Island Boards or within a rural-based Municipality. Youth-on-Board will provide mentorship, training and compensation to participants. The pilot project will help non-profit/community groups, including Municipal Administrations, engage youth and encourage them to join volunteer Boards. Students Apply HERE: Deadline: September 27, 2021. Guidelines for Municipalities and NonProfits can be found HERE.

Museums, Historic Sites, Indigenous Organizations
Funding to ReOpen, deadline October 20, 2021

Applications are now open for the Reopening Fund for Heritage Organizations. This assistance will help heritage organizations that have felt the impact of COVID-19 safely welcome back visitors. Not-for-profit organizations with a heritage collection, such as museums, archives, and historic sites, including Indigenous organizations, may be eligible to receive between $1,000 and $100,000 in emergency support. Read the Program Guidelines and learn how to apply HERE.

Client Success Stories
Meet Shylah Sheehan, The Gel Bar in Souris

A new feature on ruralactioncentres.ca is a section introducing our clients. We invite you to check out these inspiring stories to learn about their journeys as entrepreneurs and community development champions. You will also learn how the Rural Action Centre partners and staff helped them along the way. A series of videos will be released over the next few months on social media to share these stories to a wider audience.

Contact the Client Information Officer in your local centre if we can be of assistance.
