RAC Update – October 15, 2020

SMALL BUSINESS WEEK October 19-23, 2020 

Every year in October, Canada dedicates one week to celebrating entrepreneurs and businesses that drive our local economy. Rural Action Centres, in collaboration with our community partners CBDC Western PEI, CBDC Eastern PEI and the RDEE, will host a series of outreach activities and free webinars that support, strengthen and celebrate our local businesses.

We are pleased to invite you to visit our redesigned website. Check out the TRAINING & EVENTS calendar to find out about our Small Business Week initiatives, as well as the ongoing training and information sessions at each Centre – or free webinars available across the province. 

Six Common Errors in Business Writing – Free Webinar 

Does your writing convey your professionalism and boost your effectiveness? All are welcome to join writing instructor and former journalist Lori Mayne for a free webinar that will help you improve your business writing skills. Two dates available: October 20 or October 22, 9 to 10:30 a.m. To register, please email [email protected] by Monday, October 19th at noon. 

Concours Ignition Francophone 

RDÉE IPE will launch the Concours Ignition on Thursday, Oct. 22, at 10 a.m. on Facebook Live: facebook.com/rdeeipe. This contest offers a $25,000 prize and other supports for the best entrepreneurial project. 

75% Wage Subsidies – Digital Skills 4Youth 

If you hire people who work in any position that includes the use of technology – Customer Service, Administration, Tourism, Bookkeeping, Trades, HR, Manufacturing, or Marketing, Skills PEI may have a wage subsidy program for you. Businesses or non-profit organizations who can provide a recent graduate with professional experience and an opportunity to learn may be eligible. Contact your local Client Information Officer for more information. 

New Horizons for Seniors – up to $25,000 grants 

Eligible organizations can apply for up to $25,000 for projects that are led by seniors and are volunteer based. Deadline is October 20, 2020 at 3:30 p.m. For more information and to apply online check here.
