Roya Cooper – Scoopers Dairy Bar

At 10 years of age, Roya Cooper is already brimming with entrepreneurial spirit! In the summer of 2024, she owned and operated Scoopers Dairy Bar at Brudenell Riding Stables. She even came up with the name!

Scoopers served a full array of hard and soft ice cream, milkshakes, ice coffee and even sold ice cream earrings! The business was open daily from 11 to 7 p.m. weather permitting. If there was a change in schedule, Roya communicated with customers in English and French via Facebook. She’s a proud French immersion student at Montague Consolidated School.
Entrepreneurship is a family affair for the Coopers. Roya gets help running the business from her older sister Dar-lee; her younger sister, 4-year old Khorilee – the official taste-tester pictured in the photos.
The family also operates two other businesses, Brudenell Riding Stables and Emerald Isle Carriage Tours.

CBDC PEI East helped Roya’s parents launch those other businesses, so when the time came to open Scoopers Dairy Bar, the family turned to CBDC PEI East to help finance the purchase of the building and the ice cream machines. This support made all the difference and paved the way for them to open Scoopers Dairy Bar in June 2024.
The Coopers love supporting their local community. They say this is why CBDC is such a good fit for them. They see Executive Director, Martina Macdonald, and her team working hard for the community, helping businesses and entrepreneurs thrive. The Coopers love being part of it.

Roya and her mom Ambyr Cooper credit CBDC PEI East at the Montague Rural Action Centre for helping make their dream a reality.
With one summer under her belt, Roya is already working on how to improve the business when she opens Scoopers Dairy Bar in summer 2025.
