Atlantic Mustard Mill Inc., located in Murray Harbour North, is a proud Prince Edward Island success story. Founded in 2017 by a husband-and-wife team who immigrated to Canada in 2009 and settled on PEI in 2013, the company specializes in crafting traditional German-style gourmet mustard. Their dedication to quality and authenticity has earned them international recognition, including a Gold Medal at the World Mustard Competition for their “Roasted Garlic” mustard in 2025, along with multiple awards in previous years.
From the beginning, Atlantic Mustard Mill turned to the Rural Action Centre (RAC) in Montague for guidance. Through the Rural Action Centre staff, CBDC and Innovation PEI, they accessed vital resources such as business training, marketing support, and financial assistance. Workshops on budgeting, logo design, and public speaking helped build confidence and sharpen their entrepreneurial skills. These supports were instrumental in transforming a dream into a thriving business.
Sustainability and community impact are at the heart of Atlantic Mustard Mill’s operations. The company runs on 100% solar energy, avoids plastic packaging, and sources local ingredients whenever possible. They also give back by donating 3% of sales to the MS Society, reinforcing their commitment to social responsibility.
For Atlantic Mustard Mill, RAC is more than a resource—it’s a cornerstone for rural entrepreneurship. As owner Sabine notes, “Finding the right job in rural areas can be challenging. We decided to take the self-employment route. RAC gives people the opportunity to seek help face-to-face without driving an hour to Charlottetown. It helps make your dream come true.”
