Housing Challenge Fund Deadline: September 29
$20 million allocated to rural housing starts.
Community and not-for-profit organizations, and private developers can build new rental properties with provincial financial assistance. The Housing Challenge Fund pilot has been renewed to help fast-track new housing stock across the Island. With a 10-year 2-per-cent interest rate over 25 years and property tax rebates, the Province is looking to grow housing supply in both urban and rural areas. Find details and how to apply HERE.
Youth on Board – Opportunity for Non-Profits & Municipalities
Applications and Expressions of Interest will be accepted until Monday, September 18, 2023.
The Youth-on-Board Program is an opportunity for 25 rural PEI high-school students to be part of a rural non-profit board or municipal council. Non-profit boards and municipal councils will benefit from a youth perspective and help foster community involvement in the next generation. Youth will connect with a mentor who will help guide and educate them on board/council functionality. This is a fantastic opportunity for youth to develop resume skills and networking experiences. Check HERE for details.

How to be prepared for an Emergency
As the fall hurricane season approaches, all Islanders are encouraged to prepare an emergency kit and to take the appropriate precautions in advance. We recommend everyone to review the How to be prepared for an Emergency website. Every household needs an emergency plan. Your plan will help you and your family know what to do in an emergency. Download your personal emergency planning guide. It will take you about 20 minutes to create your personalized plan.
The Reception Centre Resiliency Program provides financial assistance to municipalities and organizations for the purchase and installation of generators. Contact your Community Development Officer at your local Rural Action Centre for more information.
