When Ruby Lubigan decided to open a grocery store in Bloomfield to provide products from the Phillipines to others from her home county living in West Prince, she had no idea how to run a business in Canada.
She turned to the Rural Action Centre in Alberton for help. Through the various training workshops offered, she found what she needed – everything from training on how to write a business plan and bookkeeping, to how to apply for a loan.
She says she can’t imagine what it would be like to not have the RAC in her community, all the staff are friendly and approachable, and the Client Information Officer, Barb MacDonald, keeps her updated on upcoming training and information sessions.
